Our good friend Hashem used to live in one of the houses up the street, just beside the home of the leader of the settlers. He and his wife suffered harassment for many years, and he had a heart attack in October of last year. Since Palestinians are not allowed to drive cars in Tel Rumeida, he had to be physically taken from his home by his friends and taken down the hill to the checkpoint.
Part of the journey that Hashem and his friends had to walk to the checkpoint.
The road continued, until the reached checkpoint 56. There was a clash happening near the checkpoint, and teargas in the air. Hashem died before he received medical help.
If only an ambulance could have driven to pick him up, he could have been still alive today.

Another checkpoint, this one near Shuhada Street.
The Palestinian man on the left tried to go to the mosque to pray, but the Israeli Border Police made a rule banning entrance to everyone between 15 and 30.
